Feasibility study: Addressing the special telecommunications/ICT needs of the Pacific Small Island Developing States (PSIDS)

Project No 7RAS24076
Title Feasibility study: Addressing the special telecommunications/ICT needs of the Pacific Small Island Developing States (PSIDS)
Description

The project aims to create an enabling institutional mechanism to accelerate digital transformation in the Pacific by conducting a situational analysis and needs assessment to identify specific telecommunications/information and communication technologies (ICTs) needs common to the Pacific region, and specifically the beneficiary PSIDS referred to herein, in addition to institutional mechanisms currently in place and ongoing regional assistance projects and programmes delivered by ITU and other similar agencies.

Based on the situational analysis and needs assessment, ITU will conduct a feasibility study, and subsequently identify, outline and evaluate options for a comprehensive and sustainable approach to addressing the specific telecommunications/ICT development needs of PSIDS. The findings of this situational analysis and needs assessment, and feasibility study to be conducted over a two (2)-year period, will be shared with ITU Member States and the Project’s beneficiary PSIDS.
